Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® partners with Trulia

We’re in a challenging, fast-paced online real estate world – and few people recognize that better than the Realtor associations who work hard to provide their members with the resources they need to be successful. Associations have always helped Realtor members embrace new technologies to build and grow their businesses. With that in mind, we’re excited to announce that the Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® recognized the value Trulia could provide its members awhile back and today is officially announcing a partnership with us!

This relationship will provide distinct marketing and educational benefits to SILVAR members:

· Marketing exposure for SILVAR member listings

· An intuitive public-facing search site, powered by the Trulia Publisher Platform

· Exclusive educational opportunities from Trulia for SILVAR members

SILVAR Public Search Site

Having personally spent the last 6 years working closely with Realtor association executives I sincerely believe this marks an exciting day for the future of value-added services that associations provide their members. Click here to learn more about our new partnership.

According to Mike Fanning, EVP at Windermere:

“Our mission is to give Windermere agents the ability to cast the widest net possible when it comes to exposing their clients’ listings to a national audience of serious home buyers. We chose Trulia as our first real estate online partner because it is the fastest-growing real estate Web site who puts our agents at the forefront of the sales cycle.”

Windermere has established itself as a leader in their markets. By prominently displaying their real estate agents and clients listings on Trulia, it will not only add to their local and national reach but increase their brand awareness. The more exposure listings have the easier it will be for consumers to find them; I’m sure all of Windermere’s home sellers will be very excited about this competitive advantage!

What do Foreclosures Mean to Me?

What do foreclosures mean to me?
It’s nearly impossible to look for a home today without hearing about foreclosures. But how do you translate this headline news into your dream house? Here are some top tips on how Trulia can help you make sure you are getting the best deal on your home.

Understand the price difference
With over 2 million listings on Trulia, we compared listing prices with foreclosure prices for bank-owned foreclosure properties (aka REOs) across the country to show you how to buy or sell your home smarter.

Buying in the South or Mid-Atlantic?
Try using foreclosure prices to bargain for a better deal on a listed property. When price tags on foreclosures and listings are neck-and-neck, you have more options at lower prices and a better negotiating position.

Find a foreclosure on Trulia – such as in Brooklyn, NY or Philadelphia, PA – similar to your dream home, and start bargaining.

Enter your city and filter for foreclosures

Selling in the Midwest or Pacific?
If you’re trying to sell before you buy here, you might want to wait if you can. Unfortunately, a tough job market and the subprime crisis have meant a lot of foreclosures at prices well below the list price in markets like San Diego, CA and Detroit, MI.

Enter your city and filter for foreclosures

Want to know more about how foreclosures can affect you?
You can get personalized, free opinions from other locals and real estate pros on Trulia Voices. One first time home buyer gets advice on properties types in her range and strategies to negotiate.

Q: I am a first time home buyer in Maryland (suburb of Washington, DC). We have been pre-approved for up to 250K… is it completely unrealistic to put an offer in for one of the 300k listed houses for around 250k?

A: If you are flexible in your timing, you should be looking at foreclosures and… see more

Trulia cracks the Top 10

We felt a bit like proud parents last week when we found ourselves solidly in the Top Ten of comScore Dec. 2007 rankings. From 17th to 7th and with 3x traffic growth over the last year, the milestone has meant a lot for those of us that have paused from our programming to realize that ‘Yes, what we are doing is working’.

From expanding our listings database and adding new product features to streamlining our UI, our goals haven’t changed from day one: to be the best place for consumers to start their real estate search by providing them with the tools and data on their local markets, connect with pros and other home buyers and, ultimately, enable them to make the smartest real estate decisions possible.

And in an uncertain market, we are finding that home buyers, sellers, owners, and pros need money- and time-saving tools more than ever. We’re excited the buzz is spreading and people are increasingly coming to Trulia because it means we are providing a product that has proven, lasting value and anticipates their real estate needs.

So like a proud parent… of a new kindergarten graduate, we’re looking forward to the soccer games and college applications that are still to come.

Thanks to all of you Truliaholics for the continued support - we can’t wait to show you what we have up our sleeves for 2008!

Because Finding a Home Shouldn’t Suck!

Not only is Trulia.com the fastest growing real estate Web site in the U.S. (ComScore), but as of December 2007, Trulia is the fastest website on the streets of NYC.

With over 200 cabs topped with Trulia’s latest ad campaign, Holiday shoppers, tourists, and locals alike have found the bright green banners hard to miss. In fact, blogger Rudy Bacharaty of Sellsius offered a guest post on Inman News Blog referencing the campaign, entitled Because Paying Rent Sucks. Additionally, Rudy captured some footage of our moving billboards and even gathered some insight regarding the efficacy of our ads.

As you will see, there has been tremendous feedback and we would love hear your take by submitting a comment below.

So go ahead, hitch a ride and participate in the real estate search engine that has revolutionized online home search by offering the best possible real estate user experience.

The Buzz at Industry Shows? Trulia!

(Warning: shameless self-promotion ahead…)

We’ve met with a multitude of brokers and agents recently at N.A.R, C.A.R. and some individual brand events.  In the process we’ve had a lot of really great conversations and received excellent suggestions from our broker and agent partners – thanks to all who’ve stopped by the Trulia booth!

And then there were the real estate professionals just learning about Trulia, a group from whom I heard one consistent comment: “My clients and open house attendees say I should be on Trulia…but I don’t know HOW!”

[Repeat:  “My clients and open house attendees say I should be on Trulia” = “Marketing opportunity I should pay attention to!”]

As those of you who are already working with Trulia know, the HOW is easy (and this part isn’t for you).  However, for your agents and colleagues who have clients asking them about getting onto Trulia, how could I do anything short of providing a two-step Trulia primer?

1.  Submit your listings to Trulia at no cost to make them easily accessible to more than 2 million monthly searchers on Trulia.com.

2. Join Trulia Voices to become a local neighborhood expert, for free!

Will we hear the same question next week when we’re at the Triple Play conference in Atlantic City?  If I were a betting woman, I’d put it all down on “YES!”  But with your help, we can continue to spread the Trulia word to more innovating real estate professionals across the country.  And if you’re on the east coast and heading to Triple Play, stop by BOOTH 1106 to say hello and find out more about the marketing opportunities on Trulia!

Some Real Estate Agents are thrilled with Trulia’s service:

When Trulia says they deliver serious home searchers to agent Web sites, they’re right on target! I was in final negotiations on a home sale that included numerous stipulations before closing. A couple who saw the home on Trulia called to view the house immediately and placed a higher bid without stipulations. Everything moved super-fast and smooth, and I would highly recommend Trulia to my fellow agents.” — Mary Ann Brettell, Howard Hanna Real Estate

Carrie Chiang: Power Agent - Part 1 of 2

With last week’s completion of the elegant Real Estate Top 200 by Lore Magazine, The Wall Street Journal and Real Trends, we have taken the opportunity to speak with another amazing agent and SVP of the Corcoran Group, Carrie Chiang.

Despite a lacking marketplace, Carrie has demonstrated her prowess as one of the nation’s most productive and busy agents, securing mind boggling numbers in total sales volume.

Amidst a down market, Carrie has posted one her best years to date by virtue of hardwork, assistance from a dedicated staff, and constantly acting as a high-end match maker for her buyers and sellers; efforts that made Carrie Corcoran’s 2006 Salesperson of the Year.

As quoted in her Corcoran bio, “[Carrie has] an encyclopedia-like knowledge of her New York City territory, Carrie offers buyers, sellers and investors the utmost in full-service attention. Her phenomenal sales volume itself speaks volumes about her performance, yet she especially prides herself on her extraordinary ability to focus on each individual’s needs.” With that, Sean Black of Trulia sits down with Carrie to speak about her experience as a top-producing agent in our two part series.
