The White House… of the South

Sun, Jan 11, 2009

Consumers, Real Estate News

If $308M seems a bit unbelievable… try under $10M for size.  For political junkies/dedicated citizens counting down the days until the 2009 Inauguration, this Hot-lanta “White House” may be the next best thing to President-elect Obama’s new digs.  Check out more photos on Trulia.

Built in 2001, the White-House-of-the-South boasts seven bedrooms and five and a half baths on nearly two acres of fully-gated land.  From the two-story grand foyer to the personal theatre, this home has amenities to match its more practical and comfy gourmet kitchen and living area.  The multiple rooftop terraces, including one overlooking the stately backyard pool, mini-waterfall, outdoor pavilion, circular driveway with lit fountain, and landscaped gardens, will ensure the owner can fully enjoy the much warmer southern nights - not too shabby for a cool $9.88M (that’s the actual price).

Oh, and did we mention it comes with its own oval office… complete with Presidential Seal??

This house has more of a story behind it. It was featured on one of the local Atlanta news channels. From what I can remember the house is owned by a real estate developer who was facing foreclosure. Some type of predominately African American civil rights group come to his aid with legal assistance. They were able to stop the pending foreclosure and the house has been relisted for sale. Don’t quote me but I believe the shocker was that the owner owes far less than what he is asking for despite the threat of foreclosure.

That’s an awesome home! Wouldn’t mind owning it as a summer cottage LOL!

I talk about this house to someone at least once a month, but I did not know that there was a Trulia article about this remarkable place.

There was an AJC article about this property maybe 4 years ago - I love it. I go out of my way to witness its majesty.

There are a few other major sites to see in the greater A that are bombs:

    1. The Tupac Shakur Memorial Gardens and Performing Arts Center in Stone Mountain

    2. The Hindu Temple of Light in Lilburn

    3. Abdullah The Butcher’s House of Ribs and Chinese Food

    To name a few…

Elain - lets write about Atlanta together.
