With e-mails and blogging becoming increasingly popular, we should all keep in mind our netiquette.

So what is netiquette? Sounds like an interesting word right?

Netiquette is a word derived from “network etiquette” and is really talking about your behavior online and the simple rules that one should follow.

CNN wrote an article about this awhile back on the importance of having good netiquette even when you’re on the go.

Here are the top 3 tips to keep in mind:

1. You can still show emotion and tone in your writing by using ‘emoticons’ - which are composed of punctuation marks.

Examples: =) or ;)

2.  Abbreviations and shorthand are OK!

Examples: LOL (Lauging Out Loud- one of my favs)

JK (Just Kidding)

IMHO (In My Humble Opinion)

3. Keep in mind who you’re representing when writing.

Examples: If you are representing a company, always ask yourself if this is appropriate and would your boss approve if they read it?

Hope this helps you have a better understanding of netiquette!
