More proof that all real estate is local

No matter where you look, you’re bound to find a doom-and-gloom story about the housing market - foreclosures at record highs, prices at record lows, but if you want to know the real story, look deeper at a neighborhood level to get a true feel for what’s happening. We took a look at three cities where prices are down and found neighborhoods that are doing well:

Prices in the city of San Francisco are down 4% year-over-year.

Two neighborhoods bucking the trend:
Potrero Hill - up 17%
NoPa - up 7%

Prices in the city of Atlanta are down 14% year-over-year.

Two neighborhoods bucking the trend:
Reynoldstown - up 11%
Morningside-Lenox Park - up 4%

Prices in the city of San Diego are down 10% year-over-year.

Two neighborhoods bucking the trend:
Hillcrest - up 12%
Carmel Valley - up 10%

Wow, this is great info. Any chance you can turn these neighborhood heat maps into a widget I can put on my blog in Reno, Nevada? Kind of like what Altos Research does for cities across the US…
