Trulia Presents - the LIVE Streaming Open House

Courtesy NORCAL MLS
This Sunday, you can watch an open house from sunny Healdsburg, CA LIVE, in real time, right here on the Trulia blog.
We teamed up with Pam Buda, a real estate agent from Coldwell Banker to help her showcase her exclusive listing located at 414 Piper St Healdsburg California 95448.
See multiple pictures of the home on Pam’s blog.
So why are we doing this real estate /social media experiment? First of all, we want to help Pam connect with a buyer so she can help sell her clients listing. At the end of the day that’s what really matters. Secondly, the idea for this came about while my team member Pierre and I were streaming the winners of our Trulia Voices Inman real estate connect winners LIVE on our blog. Mortgage expert Mike Mueller was watching the live stream and commented on our Mogulus player asking what hardware a real estate agent would need to stream live. Pierre and I started discussing the possibilities live on the air. Then, Mike followed up with a video comment in that blog post and I replied. Pam jumped in, then Mike wrote a detailed summary of our conversation on his Active Rain blog. We’ve been corresponding behind the scenes ever since. Being social and proactive helps make things happen!
Update: 7/20/08
Mogulus is down.
According to their website, “12:00 pm EST Mogulus Service Outage due to our hosting provider experiencing technical difficulties”.
No worries, we just switched to USTREAM.
Pam’s LIVE open house will start this coming Sunday, July 20th - from 1-4 PM and we will stream LIVE from 1:00 - 3:30pm. The video player below will switch to the live shot automatically. Pam is advertising the home in a variety of place both online and offline so hopefully, she’ll have a good showing. She’ll also being tweeting about the open house on Twitter. You can read more about her Twitter and Trulia adventures on her blog - Wine Country and Horses.
LIVE CHAT - So what do you think?
Some people might call this real estate voyeurism. The reality is, we want to see if using technology in this manner can help find a buyer for a home. We just don’t know. What do you think?

Hi there Natalie,
I am an early adopter from way back. Always comfortable and crazy on the bleeding edge. I know that this property is likely to be bought by someone who loves Healdsburg and wants to live there someday, part-time or full-time, so I thought it was a good fit. Thanks for your support!

Pam,
Looking forward to supporting you all the way. I’ll have bandaids just in case, but I suspect you won’t need them. What a lucky seller to have you as her Realtor.

Hey just got back. So sorry, I couldn’t make it. The original dates were great but that’s ok. I turned the page on before I left, and had to refresh once I got home to get the live feed up and running, but it looks great! Love the outside!

Hi All this is Pam–going off line the rest of the day but we had about 30 parties through the home (real people in real time and space) maybe 56-60 people total, and I noticed 46 new hits on the Trulia profile for 414 Piper this afternoon–so our virtual traffic was strong as well. Once we have had a chance to catch our collective breath, we can do a post mortem and see what may come of this. Thanks to Marian, Kyle, Rudy and Craig, and my client also for your help and support!

Hi Pam and Marian!
I had an amazing time watching you guys in action. Great stories about the house, the neighborhood and it’s features. The conversations you had with buyers had me on the edge of my seat as I couldn’t wait to hear what would be said next. Now I understand the meaning of real estate voyeurism!
I sure hope those serious buyers come through for you and your client.
Thanks to Kyle and Craig for making this happen. Together, anything is possible.
See you in SF!

Thanks Rudy,
I had no idea what to expect when I offered to help Pam. I just knew it would be fun. Once I realized that live chat was happening at the same time, it felt much more interactive. It was really exciting to know that if someone wanted to see something or ask a question that we could address it right then and there! Like the attic. For Trulia to get in the trenches with Realtors and offer this kind of enthusiasm, innovation and support is a win-win!
