Does your blog allow avatars in the comment section? If so, do you see a default image? Like this one below?
Ever wonder how you can change that? Here is a solution. It’s called Gravatar.
According to their site:
A gravatar, or globally recognized avatar, is quite simply an avatar image that follows you from weblog to weblog appearing beside your name when you comment on gravatar enabled sites. Avatars help identify your posts on web forums, so why not on weblogs?
Social Media is about being social. Comments are a huge part of blogs. That’s where the conversations happen. Personally, I like seeing who I’m talking too, even it’s a funny looking avatar
So, I hope all of you sign up and create your free profile on Gravatar. The directions on their site are pretty straight forward. You’ll be on your way in no time. If you have a Wordpress blog, you can find our more about adding avatars to your Wordpress blog here and here.
Or, just watch Chris Pirillo’s YouTube video about Gravatar - Awesome.
Either way, I hope to see more of your smiling faces in the comment sections around the web.
Update:
Another great way to get your face on your comments on blogs around the sphere is by using MyBlogLog. Here’s the My Avatars Wordpress Plugin for MBL.
Update II:
Installed My Avatars and fixed some buggy code. Thanks for the nudge Drew ….

MyBlogLog offers very similar functionality, and I would guess is more widely adopted.

True dat Drew! I love MyBlogLog and do know about their functionality. If you notice, I don’t see your face, rather the default avatar, even though you’re on MBL. I’ve tried getting it up when I launched the new theme but there seems to be a glitch in the matrix somewhere. I’ll update the post to include MBL as another option….
Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks for the tip. I guess I should go sign up with MBL too so that my pic will show up regardless of which version a site is using.

Odd…I just signed up and have an account now but my gravitar didn’t show on my last comment. But, when I clicked on the default, it took me back to my signed in account.
