According to Dictionary.com, a meme is a cultural item that is transmitted by repetition in a manner analogous to the biological transmission of genes. For our purposes, a blog meme is sort of like a chain letter that lets people learn more about you. You create a set of questions and answer them in detail. Usually, these are quirky and unusual things others might not have known about you. It’s a give and take situation. After you share your story with others, you are then required to select a number of people to forward the questions too. The hope is that they will reciprocate and answer the same questions and then pass it along to their sphere of influence as well. And so the meme grows and mutates into a almost never ending chain of touches that allows us to connect and learn about each other in a transparent and fun way.
Ines Hegedus-Garcia from Miamism.com memed me yesterday. Today, I will reciprocate and answer her 8 questions and pass them along to 8 other bloggers I know. Ines mentioned that the word meme has two “me’s” in it meaning that it’s all about me. I disagree. It’s all about you. I share things about myself in good faith hoping that you will do the same. This is a very basic human behavior that we all do everyday. A meme is just a fun way to share and learn on a massive scale. Thanks for the meme Ines!
1. Who is your favorite musical artist? (post a youtube video)
Dave Matthews Band of course.
2. Who is your favorite artist (post a flicker photo)
Keith Haring. Growing up in NYC, I remember seeing his “Crack is Wack” mural on the Harlem River Drive and then going home and imitating it on paper, the floor, the walls - everywhere. Till this day, you can still see that fantastic mural. His creative masterpiece continues to inspire a new generation. Amazing.
3. Who is your favorite blogger?
Andy Sernovitz, author of Word Of Mouth Marketing and publisher of Damniwish.com. There are little golden nuggets of information everywhere
4. If you could meet anyone (alive or dead), who would it be and what is the most interesting thing about them?
Oh gosh, I think that would have to be Tom Cruise. Not only is he my favorite actor, but he married one of my favorite actresses, Katie Holmes. Together, they have a beautiful daughter named Suri who would make a great playmate for my daughter. Are you listening Tom and Katie
5. What did you want to be when you grew up?
For the most part of my childhood, I wanted to be a hockey player. There’s just something about the speed of the game, team camaraderie, and the smell of the ice… Although I played a little hockey when I was younger, these days, I just watch. Maybe one day I’ll get back on the ice.
6. What is the most interesting piece of trivia you know?
The human head weighs 8 pounds.
7. If you could live in any point in history what would it be and why?
I wouldn’t want to live during any other time in history. The things we have available to us today are the greatest we’ve ever had. Life is great. I wouldn’t want to change a thing.
8. What is the most interesting job you have ever held?
Um? Hands down, Social Media Guru at Trulia. A truly amazing experience thus far
Tag, your it….. Please answer the above 8 questions on your blog and them tag 8 of your friends to do the same.

Wow, the big Kahuna at Trulia, the Rulia himself is engaging with the little people in the Memorial Day meme. The stuff we didn’t know about Rudy would fill a book. Thanks for the insight.

Hey Rudy…
It is a warm and sunny Friday afternoon here in Parsippany. I was just about to leave the office when I remembered I hadn’t checked my Facebook inbox for a day or two. I saw what looked like a nice short message from you, when I realized… I’ve bee Memed! And I haven’t just received a Meme challange by anybody, but Memed by “the Social Media Guru” himself. So there is no hiding, no forgetting to Meme back… guess I will be spending part of Saturday figuring out how to answer the 8 questions. Stay tuned to http://www.bhgrealestateblog.com
