Was ReTechSouth a success? I’d say so. Here’s the scenario. What happens, when you put some of the nations top online real estate personalities together, in one room, with some local real estate superstars, for 8 hours straight? An amazing conversation that’s what. You often hear about how the best conversations happen in the hallways at real estate conferences. This may be true, but given the proper setting, some magic actually can happen between the audience and speakers.
ReTechSouth was the place to be last Thursday. Unlike many other larger conference formats, this event had a homey feel to it - pun intended. Imagine being in a room full of your friends and their friends and just having a big ol’ conversation about real estate stuff. Essentially, that is what it was like. I was really impressed with everyone’s enthusiasm as well as the camaraderie amongst the speakers and attendees. Lot’s of positive vibes.
As the resident Social Media Guru at Trulia, I participated on 4 panels including blogging, video, social networking and real estate listing syndication. Although I was fighting what turned out to be a major cold, it was an absolute delight to share the stage with some of our industries finest thought leaders. You can’t help but learn something from each of them. That alone, was worth the trip.
Here’s a sample of some of the amazing people I met from the packed audience including Desiree Scales of Bella Web Design, Kathy Kirby Seger from RE/MAX, Michael Fournier from Living Charlotte, Bob Woods from eCREsystems, Lawrence Cohen from Real Estate Magazine, Mark Devon Hendricks from The Hendriks Group Real Estate, DeJuan Miller from Hartman Imbriale Attorneys, Sally Hamby from Sunshine Mortgage, Melissa Tatum from Sunshine Mortgage and Tom Royce from The Real Estate Bloggers.com. I look forward to connecting with them on Trulia Voices, LinkedIn and Facebook.
Matt and Brad had Atlanta Dwellings TV shooting the event so I’m sure we’ll see some cool footage soon. We thought we’d show some of the fun stuff that happened behind the scenes at ReTechSouth. So, sit back, relax and grab a diet coke, some Swedish fish and enjoy the 5 minute behind the scenes video re-cap.
Trulia was a proud sponsor of ReTechSouth. Thanks to Matt and Brad for pulling off an amazing event in such a short time.

High Kevin!
It’s always great seeing you. You had some great questions and comments from the audience. You should be on a panel at the next ReTechSouth conference - or any conference for that matter.

Rudy…this is a great video capturing the event. It was great having you on the panel so a special thanks to you and Trulia!
I was hoping you could share with me how you went about producing this video…what camera, editing software, hosting (Vimeo), etc. We are just getting into video so it’d be great to learn from one of the best.

Hi Carl!
You’re too kind
I’m happy you enjoyed the video. It was a great event all around.
I shot and edited the video using a Canon HV30 HD camcorder, Final Cut Pro editing software and used Wellcomemat, YouTube and Vimeo as some of the video distribution points/hosts.
I’m a big fan of using video in real estate. Whether it’s about a home, neighborhood, street, park, event, town or business - it’s all about telling a story.
Good luck with everything. I’ll be watching
Best,
Rudy
