Real Living is an exciting real estate brand being led by Kaira Rouda and her passionate team. They are a good example of a how a real estate company in today’s market can thrive as a leader in technology while leveraging their roots as a traditional brokerage. She recently launched a book, Real You Incorporated, teaching you how to be real. And I agree with Mike Price that real men do in fact read women’s business books. So yes, it is on my reading list. Thanks to our own Pierre Cazadilla for conducting the interview where they discussed the Real Living brand, her book and the 2008 real estate market. Enjoy the video.

Here are some key points from the video:

• Real Living is a new brand that has deep roots as a 50 year old company
• Built on family innovation and results
• Kaira’s background is in Marketing and Branding
• She saw an opportunity to appeal to the #1 real estate consumer - Women
• Women are powerful consumers
• Approximately 51% of the population are Women and control 85% of all consumer purchases
• The book was inspired by her experiences over the last 7 years in the real estate industry
• Internal check - Know who you are
• Build on your passion
• Be genuine
• Make deeper connections
• Be true, authentic and real
• Focus on local market awareness
• Follow up with your past clients on a more personal level. Make sure they are doing OK.
• The Real Living Network is a family
• While still growing, they are small enough to have personal relationships with all their broker owners
• 2008 goals are to help their broker/owners recruit more and help their agents feel stronger in this marketplace

She talks with her hands alot. Whoa! I believe Kaira is a genius and if you have done any research on Real Living there is no doubt that they are on the right track. They are creating a strong brand, something you don’t see at the franchise level. The question I have is, will they be smart about, “getting the right people on the bus” to keep the brand strong at the local, individual level.

Thanks for the heads up that this video was here, Rudy!

I had the opportunity to read the book in in the manuscript form before it was published. Good book. I understand it is selling well.

Darin…you are right! I do talk with my hands… I am trying to work on that. Anyway, thanks for your comments about the Real Living brand. And again you are right - we are looking for the best agents and broker owners in the business to extend the brand the right way at the local level. That’s what a strong network is all about. It’s people. Each one.
And Maureen, yes, the book is selling well! The best part is when I meet a person who has read it and appreciated the insight on personal branding.
