No, not that Rudy…this Rudy
At Trulia, we know that we are as good as the people that make up our team. Today we are really excited to announce that the blog touring, video-making, Web 2.0 machine Rudy Bachraty is joining Trulia as our very own Social Media Guru. I asked him a few questions about the move…
Q: So Rudy, why’d you decide to join Trulia?
One word. Integrity. Having met Pete, Sami, Sean and you multiple times over the last couple of years, I really had grown to like and respect the team. As a people person, relationships really matter to me. So if I was going to move on to another company, I had to make sure we had the right chemistry. In addition, I had to believe in the company and its future goals. Trulia has the goods. So keep your eyes peeled…
Q: Tell the truth, didn’t we win you over with the endless supply of free Red bull and Swedish fish?
When I heard you were planning a huge bash for me in Tahoe, that sealed the deal
Q: Right, you got a glimpse of Trulia culture at the company offsite in Lake Tahoe last weekend, what did you think?
Hanging out with 60 Trulians for 5 days was amazing, not to mention exhausting. The Trulians work hard all day and party like rock stars all night. Geesh, I’m getting too old for all these shenanigans. Actually, it was the best initiation I could of hoped for. Normally, it would have taken me months to get to know everyone on such a personal level. So it was well worth it. The skiing at Squaw Valley wasn’t too shabby either.
With so much brainpower amongst the group, the future at Trulia is grand. What really impressed me was the camaraderie and genuine enthusiasm about Trulia and it’s audience. Everyone is focused on creating the best consumer and agent experience. True team players. And I couldn’t have had a better roommate.

Q: What does a “Social Media Guru” do?

Good Question. I’m not sure but I’m really looking forward to finding out
On a more serious note, I’ll be managing the Trulia blog and hope to play a vital role in building brand awareness across a variety of mediums - both online and offline. I’m excited to help develop new initiatives that will build the Trulia brand and community. It’s all about creating the best experience for the end user.
Over the past two years, I’ve been entrenched in the Web 2.0 scene and as a member of the Real Estate blogging community, have met many of you face to face. The personal relationships we have built together are a testament to the power of social networking. So rest assured, I will continue to maintain and build new relationships. If you ever have any questions or suggestions on how we can enhance your experience on Trulia, please feel free to bend my ear. I’m here for ya.
Q: You have a very cool background, tell us about it.
I’ve been active in the online space since 2000. For some reason, I’ve always gravitated towards helping people with their home related needs. From 2000 to 2005, I helped homeowners find reputable Home Improvement professionals in New York City. At the same time, I helped these traditional Home Improvement pro’s grow their business online. I guess I was sort of a matchmaker if you will.
As a Real Estate Broker, I’ve experienced both the Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 world of real estate. Boy is it different. We’ve gone from presenting consumers with a limited amount of information to generating a dynamic two-way conversation that actually produces results. I’ve been living and breathing real estate technology for the past 3 years. It’s fascinating to see how far we have come as an industry. Yet, there is so much more work to be done.
By far, I’d have to say that blogging about real estate, technology, marketing and advertising has been one of my most interesting experiences over the years. Although it feels like your going to school, studying and writing a term paper almost everyday, the knowledge I have gained is immeasurable. It has allowed me to combine my passion for video, writing, photography and technology. I look forward to continuing my journey with Trulia.
Q: Now’s your opportunity to share some wisdom on Trulia Blog…
One of the greatest things I’ve learned over the last 3 years is that personal relationships are the key to success. Anything is possible when you put yourself out there. Whether you blog, comment on blogs or forums, meet real people in real life, it’s all the same - building trusting relationships will help you achieve virtually anything you want. That’s the power of social media. You must be present in order to reap the benefits. As some people say, mark your territory by peeing on as many trees as you can find. I look forward to seeing many of you in the comment sections, Q&A forums, conferences and seminars.
Q: Any final words?
Yeah. I want to wish my good friend Joe at Sellsius all the best. He has a bright future ahead of him. Thanks for being my business partner and confidant all these years. It’s been a trip
Blog on my brotha!
Thanks again to Pete, Sami, Heather and the rest of the team for having the confidence in me. Let’s rock!

Congratulations Rudy! I know that Trulia now has someone who can shoot videos of a movie being made without being arrested all while driving an RV with leaky plumbing espousing the virtues of social media with random outbursts of ideas for a blog post. I am a witness. I wish you well - you’ll fit in well with the Trulians, they are lucky to have you.

By the way, one day maybe we could sit down and figure out the Trulia tradition of “endless supply of free Red bull and Swedish fish” (see above).
Makes absolute no sense to a Swede!
February 2nd, 2008 at 1:10 pm
Wow! Rudy, congratulation! What’s Trulia? : )
February 2nd, 2008 at 4:22 pm
Missy - In addition to blogging, to some degree, I think we have all experienced that online and offline networking can help build relationships. Being proactive on different sites can help establish your credibility while building your contact database.
If you have any suggestions that you would like to see us implement on any aspect of the site, please shoot me an email at rudy (at) trulia.com. Thanks again Missy!
