Excellent post. We do something similar on a weekly basis (typically Sunday mornings) called our Featured Open House, where we highlight a particular Boston open house that deserves extra attention.

Sunny San Diego looks a little more inviting than cold (26 degrees F) Boston at the moment :)

The layout of the presentation is great. Open houses, however are really an ineffective form of marketing propety. Too many Realtors continue to mislead their clients by presenting this as a good means of selling a home. Open houses do more to benefit a Realtor than they do to get that particular home sold. Nationally less than 1% of homes are sold because of an open house.

I have to agree with Metrowest, open houses really benefit the Realtor more than the homeowner.
