When everyone turns back their clocks for daylight savings time this Sunday, I’m sure many home buyers will be wishing they could turn their clocks back a little further – perhaps to 2005 or 2006 when the housing boom was still in full swing, interest rates were at an all-time low and every purchase seemed destined to immediately increase in value.
Well, a group of enterprising realtors from the Trulia Voices community is attempting to re-activate some of that enthusiasm this Sunday with the first ever National Open House. What’s got us really excited about this event is that is was initiated here on Trulia Voices. Patrick Mahony, a realtor in Phoenix, AZ posted the following question in Trulia Voices in September and the idea took off. When we last checked on the status, there were over 200 agents in more than 25 states participating, and the numbers were climbing.
We want to wish all the realtors participating this Sunday the best of luck and encourage anyone considering purchasing a home to get out there, take a look and ask questions. If you still have more questions or can’t make it to an open house, then come back to Trulia Voices, join the community and ask away. After all, you do have a whole extra hour at your disposal this Sunday……

Hey Pete,
Thanks for the encouragement. This event would not have been possible
with out a little help from my friends on Trulia. Deborah Madey, Sylvia Barry, Paul Slaybaugh, Ruth “The Truth” FSBO, Ute Ferdig, Heather, special assistant to Steve Ostrom, and a guy named Jeffrey Demos. If you ever happen to need an IT guy who can deal with Realtors, he`s your guy.
Of course a big thanks to all of our participants.
Thank you all,
Patrick

Yes, thanks, Pete, for the blog and encouragement.
Patrick started this ‘crazy’ idea and as we are good friends on Trulia, we thought this is a great idea and tagged along.
I think these REALTORS have done a wonderful job to get this going from ground zero. I am really impressed by my friends on Trulia – Ruth, the semi-FSBO, came up with the name and date and a lot of idea/work in between; Heather, the marketing arm of her brokerage, designed the flyer, logo, site (she is another talented lady), yes, even made enhancements on her anniversary (Thanks, Steve); Deborah, the Broker, as always, provided directors and started the Press Release and donated Jeffrey’s time (you have to get Deborah’s approval before you try to ask Jeffrey to do things), Paul put the initial blog on other forum, and got his local association and Realtors going; and don’t forget all the discussions that went on. They also have to approve all those listings and are asking for MORE!!! Patrick mentioned me, but I mostly cheered on and be in awe of the others :-).
I told my friend at Marin IJ that this is the FIRST Annual National Open House Day. He kindly pointed out that you don’t really say ‘ANNUAL’ until you have at least done the first one’ I still say this is the FIRST Annual event as I know we are going to have more and bigger events.
But now, Realtors, one more day to sign up at http://www.National-Open-House.com.
Thanks again, to you all; my group of friends on Trulia and the Realtors who sign on.
Trulia is a pretty awesome experience! Maybe next year we will host it with Trulia.
