We have heard from many brokers and agents how they like the map interface on Trulia. Now we are making that map available to brokers and agents to showcase their listings on their own sites-and best of all, it’s free. You can now have a free and simple way to enhance your website or blog and to show off your listings on a great map interface.
Creating your own TruliaMap is easy and can be done in less than 2 minutes, but it only works if your listings are currently on Trulia. If you are not currently on Trulia, you can find out how to be included here.
How does it work? Visit the Tools For Your Site section of Trulia and click on TruliaMap. Enter your website URL and we’ll quickly tell you whether we’ve indexed your listings. You can then customize a TruliaMap to make it your own. Options include size (narrow or wide), colors, and even an option to have the map automatically animate through your listings. Once you’re happy with the look, copy and paste the provided HTML anywhere on your site and you are done!
Each day, Trulia will automatically update your listings to display the newest 50 properties we know about so that your TruliaMap always appears fresh to your site visitors.
TruliaMap is still in beta, so we encourage you to try it out and send us feedback on what you like and what may need improvement. Also to reward those earlier adopters, we are giving away Trulia t-shirts to the first 10 brokers or agents who integrate TruliaMap on their websites or blogs. Just send an email to info@trulia.com with a link to the page where you integrated TruliaMap.
Here is an example for Pacific Union in San Francisco, CA.

It would be great if the map tools for realtors would EXCLUDE the links to the listing agent’s sites. The main reason for hosting tools like this is to get leads, and having a link to another agent’s site at the top of the listing defeats this purpose. Clearly the listing agent name/office is required to be somewhere, but in the format for agent sites it should be at the very bottom of the listing and in very small print.

Linda thanks for your comment. It is our intention for the TruliaMap to be a tool for the listing broker or agents to showcase their own listings; hence the links back to their own sites. There is an option when creating the TruliaMap to have it link to the detail page on Trulia, which also contains the listing agent/broker information.

I agree with Linda - why would I want to list properties on my site which have
links back to trulia, which then refer back to the listing agents sites/contact info. Basically sending my lead elsewhere.
On the flipside, I have the ability to list my own properties, I want the dataset from Trulia
I want a service like: http://google.weblogsinc.com/2005/07/05/chicago-real-estate-in-google-earth/
Or better yet, something built on the foundations of GoogleBase
I feel you guys have great concepts, but little real world experience into our realm.

Like the map…needs a little more work but, what advancing technology dosent. For now, I will leave the map off of our site but, will keep checking back for updates. Mission Grove Realty would like to see a bit more progess made before subjecting clients to the kinks, dead links and out of date information sometimes found. Still a great work in progress. Aloong with Zillow and others, the concept is very good……just need to keep it clean and disguise the Prudential affiliation a little better. Dosent bother me much but, when others make the Trulia - Prudential connection, the audience could dwindle… Some abusers at Prudential already have bogus listings with photos of their beer drinking buddies and descriptions meant to poke fun at other agencies….NOT what anyone wants to see.

We would like to learn a better way to get listings on to Trulia. It seems that most MLS systems have locked Trulia and others, even with the owners permission, from “scraping” the data to make it more accurate but…… http://www.missiongrove.com is where we would like to eventually add the search and map tools. Just need to wait and see how the data will get cleaned up at Trulia……Keep up the good work.

Its the nature of Internet-based businesses to provide tools for free. It accomplishes many things including building brand recognition and the links back from each widget are pretty nice too.

As Linda mentioned, it would be nice if you could include the map without the links back to the listing agents site, in the same way that IDX works.
