Buying a House for the Cost of a Paperclip

Remarkable as it sounds, this actually is a true story. Hard to believe, but Kyle MacDonald set out on a quest to start with a paperclip and barter his way until he was able to trade for a house. Apparently he began his quest by posting a listing on Craigslist in the barter section and it took off from there. You can read more about his journey on his blog, and here is a summary article on Yahoo! News.

Congrats to Kyle on his new home, an 1,100 sq ft., 3-bedroom place in Kipling, Saskatchewan (Canada). Assuming a $0.05 cost for the paperclip, the avg. price per square foot works out to be $0.00005; I am sure his neighbors appreciate that comparable. A quick review of the least expensive homes on Trulia shows Teague, TX has the lowest priced homes, but unfortunately none are listed for just a paperclip.
